Jeff Mc Kibbens has asked us to introduce all of you to the milling machine through a simple exercise, the parameters for which are contained in a file on reserve for this class in the library called “Milling with Maya”. Please photo copy it and use it to be sure all of your initial work follows its parameters precisely. If you have already done the assignment please be sure and confirm that you did it correctly. This simple exercise is given in order to introduce you to the limitations and specifications of the machine. Jeff has committed to running your first set of parts no later then Monday night, providing that enough of you have “clean” files to mill from. This project should be completed no later then class time Tuesday, Any one’s job that is not run Monday will be run Tuesday or at the latest Wednesday. This must be done by then so we can move on to more specific and interesting CNC applications in the following weeks.
