Community Garden Programmatic Requirements
Plot Specifications
Plots must be 30sq. ft. 3 sq t.
Size and layout of plots must maximize growing space.
Entire plots must be accessible from perimeters.
Each plot aisle must be accessible at one end bywheel barrel.
Grade/Terracing Specifications
A retaining wall.
No Drops of more then 3 ft. may occur vertically.
Plots and terrace walls should stagger on the slope to navigate run off and
minimize erosion.
Preliminary Soil Requirements
Terracing should happen upward, in order to minimize the amount of soil
exchanged.
Terrace upwardsto maximize usable area.
Minimum Community Garden Features
Accessible safe plots that hold water and soil.
Pathways for access to all plots not to be less than 18 inches.
Compost pens, minimum 12 ft. x 3 ft.
Tool and seed storage shed
Fencing
Gating
Bulliten board.
Signage
Potting Table
Lighting for stair case
Hand rails for stair case
Hose bibs will be placed with a 10% overlap on a 50 ft. radius. Hoses should
not have to drag acroos plots.
Ecological Specifications
Post Consumer recycled material are preferred.
No materials that will react with soil or plant life is a way that can effect
food crops.
